Hey Friends,
I hope you had a Merry Christmas! I can’t believe how quickly it came and went. The month of December is such a flurry of activity leading up to Christmas, I have to remind myself to slow down and enjoy every little moment because it is easy to get caught up in the hustle of it all.
Here we are now, about to welcome in the year 2018! I can hardly believe another year has passed. I feel like the different aspects of my business are all falling into place, my parents house is coming to completion which will give me lots of fun content to share with you all in the new year. My children are enjoying school and doing so well which is the most important thing of all.
No year is without its trials and tribulations but I wanted to share some of my favorite family moments, projects, updates from the past year with you all. These are the highlights of 2017 over at the Lund household.
The good times started last January when we took a long awaited family trip to Mexico to see Zac Brown Band, the best way to start a new year is with family and live music in beautiful weather.
The kids still talk about Mexico and how they want to go back. We stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel with the ZBB event called Castaway. I can’t say enough good things. This year we are trying to save up for some home projects so no big family trips are planned, yet. But talk to me after month three of freezing temps.
The Beach house build started in early spring. Working on this with my parents has been so fun, and they are the best clients because they’re so easy to be completely candid and share my ideas.
I can’t wait to post more about our finish choices, tile, lights and more! All the fun details will be coming up in the next few weeks.
During the spring I shared this photo of my daughter and was chosen as the Pier 1 Share the Love contest winner!
It was an honor to be featured and chosen as one of the 10 finalists. It’s so rare to see my daughter in a dress, she is usually such a tomboy but i was able to capture her, here in front of our front door, looking as cute as could be. My lanterns which are from Pier 1 frame her on either side. I couldn’t believe I was chosen but who can resist little toes like that?
At our house we did a lot of room repainting; mudroom, living room and our bedroom. However my favorite project was our fireplace Refresh which you can see here–
I’m keeping it really simple right now post Christmas decor. Click the link to see what we tiled right over.
My son’s room got a little makeover too! He has been really into baseball so we embraced that theme and added a fun focal point on his wall. I drew laces in pencil, in the corners of his largest bedroom wall with black paint, then red paint going in V shapes. After that I used an antiquing glaze and an old T-shirt to rub the off white walls to make it look like an aged baseball.
And a non house related project–
We welcomed a little English yellow lab puppy we named Levi. Although not a house project it was a whole other type of project, project puppy train. Levi has been such an amazing addition to our family. As a first time dog owner there was definitely an adjustment phase, kinda similar to bringing home a new baby. Now he is potty trained and destroying less stuff (ha ha like my expensive shoes) we are all so in love with him. He has made quite a few appearances in my home decor photos on Instagram too. Here he is in front of my door from summer through now winter!
On a personal note I entered my mid-30’s! My husband surprised me with a quick surprise trip to one of my favorite places- Nashville! I’ve always been a huge country music fan and we always talked about going here together. We enjoyed some nice quite meals, just walking through the city together, all the live music and dancing. It was just what we needed to reconnect and have some fun like the pre-kid days.
Looking back on this year I can’t believe all the amazing moments we have shared. It goes with out saying that I’m blessed and beyond grateful. I really can’t thank my husband enough, because of him I’m able to be home with my kids and pursue my passions. Also, my family that always supports me and helps me when I need it. Then there is all of YOU guys, all the encouragement and kindness I experience from all of you is something I never expected. It is because of your love that I’ve been able to partner up with some really cool brands.
I’m not sure 2018 can top 2017 but if it is anything like it I will be a happy girl.
Cheers to a happy and healthy 2018!
Love,
Jordan
