Launch Day & Beach House Living Room Update!

This post was sponsored by Boston Interiors, but as always all opinions are my own.

Welcome friends to my newly re-vamped corner of the internet AND my first official post on the new site!  What do you think so far? I hope you all love it as much as I do. Feel free to browse around and make yourself at home because it is afterall about all things home.    I thought it would be fun to share our almost finished, beach house living room on launch day! As I mentioned awhile back on my Instagram (if you’re not following me here you should!) that I’m partnering up with one of my favorite local furniture/ home decor stores- Boston Interiors!  I’ve been a LONG time fan of their stores.  I can attest to the quality of their products as well because our living room sectional sofa is from there and it has held up very well over the years, with two kids and a dog!  No better test of furniture than those three elements, right? Boston Interior’s furniture also works with a range of styles because they offer such a wide variety of pieces.

When I started discussing living room furniture layout with my parents, for the beach house I knew I wanted it to be open, so the fireplace and light fixture could be the focus of the room.  I wanted to create a conversational sitting area that would lend itself to the open floor plan. (Note we ended up swapping fixtures later in the process.)

To give you an idea the living room can be seen from the breezeway room, kitchen and dining room, it’s a big long open floor plan.  So I didn’t want to block the living room with a sofa from the rest of the house. I wanted to keep it open and flowing. We decided to put a sofa along the shiplap wall and I suggested getting two swivel chairs to ago across.  I knew Boston Interiors had a wide selection of side chairs; wing-back, reclining (that don’t even look reclining), slip-cover style, and all in an assortment of fabrics. It’s so easy to want EVERYTHING when you shop there. Luckily if you need help deciding they have wonderful designers to assist you.

I already had an idea of what I wanted, two smaller chairs, not tiny but not huge.  Like I mentioned before I wanted them to also swivel. Why was this an important feature you may ask?  Well I wanted the chairs to work across from the sofa for conversational moments and also to easily twist to watch the tv which is mounted over the fireplace.  A swivel allows for guests to turn their chair to see the guest across from them or the tv.

Off to Boston Interiors I went like a kid in a candy shop, searching for the perfect swivel!   Luck behold I found the perfect chairs. They are called the Calliope Swivel, they have a beautiful small pattern in dark and light blue which is just what I was looking for.  So here they are! In all their swivel glory. They fit in the room perfectly and feel just a touch “beachy” which is ideal for our family Cape Cod home.

Aren’t they cute?!  The print isn’t too overpowering, I’ll probably end up getting pillows with a little more color in them once we live in the space for a little while.  Everything else pictured in the room we already owned, the side table, coffee table and lamps. However, I’ll link similar or exact items below to the ones seen in the photos.

I love that you can easily turn to see the tv or even see through to the kitchen and dining area.  They add so much versatility to the space and keep with that open concept/flow that I was really looking to create in this living room.  Next we need to find some great bookcases to flank the fireplace wall. I’ll be sure to share when I’ve found just the right ones!

What do you think of the lay out and my two swivels?  Don’t you just want to grab a drink and give them a little test swivel!?  My kids sure did a few times, ok I did too ;)!
